After completing his law degree, Tom practised for 20 years with a large regional law firm on the north coast of New South Wales. His work covered many areas of law; including succession and financial planning, superannuation, and governance around mortgage practices. He also became a qualified financial planner during this time.

Tom’s interest in investment and wealth management led to a career change and, in 1998, he joined Bankers Trust Australia, then moved to Deutsche Bank in 2004. He works in a collaborative manner and this has resulted in long-lasting, trusting relationships with numerous not-for-profit organisations and investors.

Currently, Tom is an Investment Advisor and Partner at Escala Partners in their Sydney office.

Over many decades and countless hours Tom has made a significant contribution to the community. For over 20 years he has been a member of the St Ignatius College Riverview Class Bursary Committee, including 10 years as Chairman, ensuring the College is accessible to families with varied socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. He was also an inaugural member of the College’s Indigenous Mentoring Program for five years, and sat on the College Foundation Board for eight years.

Tom spent 10 years as a member of the St Vincent’s Clinic Outreach and Investment Committee, and was also a member of the Sisters of the Sacred Heart Investment Committee for eight years.

He volunteered for the Cana Communities Teresa House Project for 10 years, which provided meals, accommodation and compassionate care to people experiencing homelessness in Redfern.

Prior to moving to Sydney, Tom was Secretary of the Port Macquarie Surf Life Saving Club for two years; Secretary of the Port Macquarie Rugby Club for five years; Chairman of the Board of Advice at the Port Macquarie Base Hospital for two years; a member of the St Agnes Parish Council for two years; and President of the Parents & Friends Association at St Peters Primary School for two years.

Tom currently lives in Sydney with his wife Sue. They have two children, Lucy and Jonothan, and three grandchildren.
