Provide for a better future

Your gift will change lives. You can...

  • Give the gift of education to a young person who has grown up in out-of-home care by allowing them to study at university or TAFE.
  • Help families and individuals across Australia impacted by disadvantage, poverty and isolation.
  • Provide safe accommodation for some of the most marginalised people in our community.
  • Help regional, rural and remote Australian communities impacted by economic downturn, crisis, and extreme weather events.

Be assured we will use your gift to create the greatest impact for the most vulnerable people among us. Download our brochure to learn how easy it is to leave a gift in your Will to the Sisters of Charity Foundation.

Personal story

Why I decided to include the Foundation in my Will

Robert is one of our long-term supporters, and is particularly committed to the grants and scholarship programs. Here, he shares his views on charitable giving and the transformative power of a bequest.

A gift in your Will can make a world of difference to the work we do, giving hope and support to those who need a helping hand.

How to leave a gift in your Will

Step 1: Speak to your family and loved ones

We recommend letting your family know that you are planning to leave a gift to the Sisters of Charity Foundation, so they are aware of your decision.

Step 2: Decide what kind of gift to leave

There are six main ways to do this:

  1. A residuary bequest: After taking care of friends and family, you can leave all or a percentage of the remainder of your estate to the Sisters of Charity Foundation.
  2. A percentage of your estate: Leave a nominated portion or fixed percentage of your estate to the Sisters of Charity Foundation. This will remain future‑proof and you’ll be less likely to need to update your Will in the future.
  3. Cash bequest: You designate a specific amount of money to be given to the Foundation.
  4. Assets: You may leave any items that you own to the Foundation, such as property or shares.
  5. Contingency bequest: A contingency bequest is conditional on a certain event occurring before distribution to
the beneficiary. For example, your gift to the Sisters of Charity Foundation can take effect after the death of your spouse. In this way your spouse retains your estate for life.
  6. Life insurance or superannuation policies: Subject to the terms of the policies, you can make the Sisters of Charity Foundation the beneficiary of an insurance or superannuation policy.

Step 3: Speak to a solicitor

We recommend that you always consult a solicitor before writing or updating your Will.

Step 4: Wording your Will

To include your gift to the Sisters of Charity Foundation when you write or update your Will, please give the following wording to your solicitor:

I [name] give and bequeath to the Sisters of Charity Foundation Ltd (ABN: 99 342 873 237) of Level 7, 35 Grafton Street Bondi Junction NSW 2022 to be applied for the purposes and objects of the Sisters of Charity Foundation:

  1. The remainder of my estate in whatever form, after payment of any debts, liabilities and taxes and after the provisions of my Will (for my family, friends and others) have been fully paid and/or satisfied.
  2. [insert percentage here] % of my real estate property known as [insert address] (or shares or debentures or other assets as the case may be).
  3. The sum of $[insert amount here].

If you wish you can also specify the purpose to which you would like your gift to be put.

For example:

  • To be used for [indicate how the gift is to be used]
  • To be applied for the purposes of the Sisters of Charity Foundation in such a manner as the Foundation may determine.
