Provide for a better future

Your gift will change lives. You can...

  • Help families and individuals across Australia impacted by disadvantage, poverty and isolation.
  • Give the gift of education to a young person who has grown up in out-of-home care by allowing them to study at university or TAFE.
  • Provide safe accommodation for some of the most marginalised people in our community.

Be assured we will use your gift to create the greatest impact for the most vulnerable people among us.

Personal story

Why I decided to include the Foundation in my Will

Robert is one of our long-term supporters, and is particularly committed to the grants and scholarship programs. Here, he shares his views on charitable giving and the transformative power of a bequest.

A gift in your Will can make a world of difference to the work we do, giving hope and support to those who need a helping hand.

How to leave a gift in your Will

Step 1: Speak to your family and loved ones

We recommend letting your family know that you are planning to leave a gift to the Sisters of Charity Foundation, so they are aware of your decision.

Step 2: Decide what kind of gift to leave

There are five main ways to do this:

  1. Whole Estate: You can gift your entire Estate to the Sisters of Charity Foundation.
  2. Percentage of your Estate: Choosing to leave a percentage of your Estate will safeguard the future value of your intended bequest.
  3. Residuary Bequest: After taking care of your loved ones, you can leave all, or a percentage, of the remainder of your Estate to the Sisters of Charity Foundation.
  4. Specific Bequest: You may choose to leave a specific amount of money or a gift of real estate, shares, or another asset.
  5. Contingency Bequest: A contingency bequest is conditional on a certain event occurring before distribution to the beneficiary. For example, your gift to the Sisters of Charity Foundation can take effect after the death of your spouse. In this way your spouse retains your estate for life.

Step 3: Speak to a solicitor

We encourage you to seek legal advice when preparing or amending your Will to help ensure your wishes are fulfilled and to avoid confusion after your lifetime.

Step 4: Wording your Will

Please provide this wording to your solicitor, who can adapt it to your personal circumstances and ensure it is validly incorporated into your Will.
