Board MembersSr Adele Cottrell-Dormer grew up in the Blue Mountains region, and received her early education in Blackheath and at Mount St Mary’s, Katoomba. She trained as a general nurse at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney, later completing studies in midwifery and infant welfare. Her desire to serve led her to spend four years as a Lay Missionary in Papua New Guinea’s East Sepik region.
In 1982, Sr Adele joined the Sisters of Charity and began a life of dedicated ministry. She has served as a nurse at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, Sacred Heart Hospice in Sydney, and Mt Olivet in Brisbane. Her compassion extended to prison ministry at the Metropolitan Remand & Reception Centre (MRRC) in Silverwater, as well as parish ministry across several communities.
Sr Adele has also brought her gifts to international service in Rwanda, Macedonia, and East Timor. More recently, she provided pastoral care at St Vincent’s Private Hospital in Sydney before taking up her current role on the Sisters of Charity Congregation’s Leadership Council. She has also contributed her expertise as a member of several boards, continuing her lifelong commitment to service, justice and compassionate care.
