Board MembersMichael Page was partner in the Commercial Property Group/Private Client Services Group in the Sydney office of Freehill, Hollingdale & Page (now Herbert Smith Freehills), gaining considerable experience and knowledge during his 25 years. He acted for many years for the firm’s private clients, including Lend Lease, the Darling Park Joint Venture, State Authorities Superannuation Board, MLC, Coles Myer, Tooheys and Westpac. He was an exchange lawyer with the Attorney General’s Department in Canberra and, during a 15-month secondment, worked on a range of legislation such as the Cheques Act, the Foreign Takeovers Act and the Trade Practices Act.
Michael left the firm and established Page Partners to practise law in his areas of interest and passion: property/real estate, wills and estate planning, and commercial/business contracts. He acted on some of the largest commercial office and retail leases in Sydney and for Lend Lease on projects such as the MLC Centre, Australia Square, Darling Park Tower and the Riverside Centre, Brisbane.
Michael has spoken at conferences and seminars on issues such as Commercial Leasing Practice, the NSW Retail Leases Act, misleading and deceptive conduct in leasing transactions, the impact of the Trade Practices Act and rent reviews and valuation. He has acted in cases concerning land tax, land valuation and rent disputes, the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, the Trees (Disputes between Neighbours) Act and the Land Tax Management Act. He rewrote a former edition of the BOMA (now the Property Council of Australia) standard industrial lease.
Michael is a Life Member of the Stanford University Business School Alumni Association. He attended the summer law course at Harvard University including courses given by Professor Louis Loss (securities law) and Professor Philip Areda (anti-trust law). He has a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney and is a Notary Public. He was for many years a member of the Commercial Law Association of Australia and a Fellow of the Tax Institute (formerly the Taxation Institute of Australia).
Michael has a wide range of interests including wine, history and travel.
