Louise M Burton

Louise M Burton is a highly respected leader in philanthropy, the purpose sector, consulting, government and the global corporate world.

Recently Louise lead the first capital building campaign for HammondCare to build a purpose built home for the elderly homeless with complex high-care needs in Darlinghurst. The campaign raised $9 million from generous donors to complete the home, which is now operational.

Prior to this, at the Cancer Council, Louise was responsible for establishing the Development Team, creating a sustainable pipeline of major donors to fund programs and research.

Louise established the Sydney office of Philanthropy Australia – the national membership body for trusts and foundations, families and individuals, who want to make a difference through their own philanthropy and to encourage others to give.

Prior to joining Philanthropy Australia, Louise was responsible for driving Pfizer Australia’s Corporate Responsibility Strategy across Australia, as well as leading the Global Pfizer Foundation in the region of Australia and New Zealand.

She was Chair of the steering committee of the Collaboration for Health in Papua New Guinea, a philanthropic initiative of five global healthcare companies (including Pfizer Australia) committed to improving the health and well-being of people with HIV/AIDS in PNG.

Earlier in her career Louise held a number of leadership roles in the not-for-profit sector in service delivery and research. Further achievements included establishing and chairing the Chronic Illness Alliance NSW, founding member of Schools Plus and pro bono work for a number of charities and community management boards, as well as judging panels in this sector.
